About Me
I work as a Junior Assistant Professor in the Human-Centered Computing group at the Department of Information and Computing Sciences at Utrecht University. I hold a Master's Degree in Business Informatics from Utrecht University and I am currently pursuing my PhD.
My research focuses on technology that supports self-reflection. I find it fascinating how technology shapes our perception of ourselves, our surroundings, and society at large. Throughout my doctoral studies, I delved into the impact of personal data, particularly from devices like fitness trackers, in informing users. I conducted multiple studies to examine how personal informatics systems can assist individuals in reflecting on their health and overall well-being.
Besides research, I also teach several courses in the Human Computer Interaction Master and I supervise Bachelor and Master theses projects.

Work Experience
2020 - Current
Junior Assistant Professor
Human-centred computing group at Utrecht University
2014 - 2020
Lecturer
Ruimtelijke Ontwikkeling / Climate & Management at De Haagse Hogeschool
I worked as a lecturer for the study program Ruimtelijke Ontwikkeling / Climate & Management. I’ve had all kinds of roles within this function. I have been a coordinator of courses in which I developed, organized and coordinated student projects in close collaboration with professionals in the field. I have been chair of the exams and assessments committee of the program and have been a member of the faculty’s board of examinators. I was a 'Studieloopbaanbegeleider' and in that role I tutored/advised students regarding their study path, as well as career choices.
As a lecturer I also developed and taught two courses: Systems Engineering II, and Geographical Information Systems. Lastly, I supervised students during internships, projects in the major and during their graduation research project.
2011 - 2013
Teaching Assistant
Climate & Management at De Haagse Hogeschool
Before starting with my fulltime final internship, I worked as a teaching assistant for Climate & Management alongside my studies. In this job, I coached first-year students and I lectured the courses Sustainable Development and Energy trans assistant for Climate & Management alongside my studies. In this job, I coached first-year students and I lectured the courses Sustainable Development and Energy transition.
2010 - 2011
Board member
Student Organization ‘Morgen’
Alongside my studies, I was secretary for student organization Morgen for three days a week. Morgen is an organization that strives to motivate and inspire students to live their lives in a more sustainable way. As secretary I managed the internal organization, as a driving force behind the scenes.
Education
2017 - 2020
Master Business Informatics (Cum Laude)
Utrecht University
At some point I realized that I longed for a career shift, and I therefore decided to sign up for the MSc. Business Informatics. I did my masters next to my job as a lecturer at De Haagse Hogeschool (for 4 days a week), so I mostly did my course work during the evening hours and weekends.
Followed courses: Knowledge Management, Introduction to Scientific Research Methods, Advanced Research Methods, Method Engineering, Business Intelligence, Data Science and Society, Mobile Programming, Seminar Medical Informatics, Mobile Interaction, Adaptive Interactive Systems
2008 - 2014
Bachelor of Built Environment, Track: Climate & Management
De Haagse Hogeschool
Engineering with a specialization in sustainability in the built environment.
Certificates
2022
Basic Teaching Qualification (BKo w)
Utrecht University
Through a portfolio of my teaching experience and a reflection on the competencies I received my BKOw.
2017
Certificate Board of Examiners
De Haagse Hogeschool
To become part of the board of Examiners I had to follow a year-long course on policies, legislation, securing the level of assessments and exams and other procedures.
2016
Teaching degree: Basiskwalificatie Didactische Bekwaamheid
De Haagse Hogeschool
To become a certified teacher I followed a year long training consisting of several courses to obtain my teaching degree (Basiskwalificatie Didactische Bekwaamheid / BKE) and to deepen my didactic competencies.
